about us

Appalachia Mission of Hope (AMoH) is a Christian non-profit organization that serves the Appalachian region of Kentucky.  AMoH was brought about by a group of volunteers with an extensive background in charity and mission work.  Officially incorporated as a charity by the state in the Spring of 2004, AMoH was retroactively granted 501(c)3 tax-exempt status by the Internal Revenue Service.  AMoH is headquartered just outside of McKee in Jackson County.

The goal of AMoH is to not only provide necessary aid to the peoples of Appalachia, but in doing so, we strive to show God's love in action.  We feel that in addition to the services we provide, we are planting seeds into those we help.  The true purpose of AMoH is stated in Article II of our Articles of Incorporation:

"Appalachia Mission of Hope is a Christian, non-profit, charitable organization that is motivated by the love of God to provide spiritual, economic, and other necessary aid to children, families, and persons in need in the Appalachian area, in accordance with biblical precepts Matthew 10:42; 25:35; I Peter 4:10-11; Nehemiah 8:10; Isaiah 58:6-8; and Proverbs 25:21."

Appalachia Mission of Hope is governed and directed by an 8 member Board of Directors with a full time Director of Operations, Ann Williams, who reporting directly to the Board, oversees the day to day operations of the mission.  Also, Mrs. Williams serves as the liaison who coordinates the efforts of our volunteers.

In addition to the many festivals and events AMoH coordinates during the year, we also distribute clothing, household goods, small appliances, furniture, and food to many families in the Appalachia area.  To assure that help gets to those that need it most, AMoH utilizes a network of partner churches and organizations throughout Eastern Kentucky.  AMoH acts as a funnel, channeling appropriate aid to where it is needed.

Currently AMoH serves Breathitt, Harlan, Jackson, Knox, Laurel, Lee, Leslie, Perry, Whitley, and Wolfe counties.  AMoH continues to strengthen ties with partner churches throughout our coverage area to further cement our mission foundation.  By continuing to build our infrastructure, we will be able to expand more efficiently throughout the region.

AMoH is looking forward to reaching out and providing help to those in need.  As the months roll by, AMoH will continue to send out shipments of clothes and household goods to our friends who can use a helping hand.   We look forward to improving our existing ministries and developing new outlets to assist others.  We are excited about finding new partners to further our efforts.  We are constantly looking for new avenues for raising funds.  We have truly been blessed, and we cannot wait to see what the future has in store.  We cannot thank our supporters enough for all the time, energy, and donations given to support AMoH.  THANK YOU!!!!!

AMoH welcomes all visitors to come and see what all we do.  If you would like to take part in any of our activities, as a volunteer or as a spectator, please come and join the fun.  Give us a call or drop us an email with any questions or comments you have.  We strive to include all those who wish to help others, and we enjoy visitors and company.
